A Recipe A Day Keeps the Visitors Coming
by Guest Blogger – Arika Lewis
Are you scratching your head, trying to figure out how to get more content on your blog without writing all day long? Sometimes it can be hard to come up with interesting topics that your readers are interested in reading. And, how do you attract the search engines to your blog anyway? The answer is "Recipes!" By adding a recipe-of-the-day to your blog, you’ll ensure that you’ve always got fresh, yummy content for your visitors to "eat up". But, how do you find recipes that you can use? Before I share some of my favorite ways, let’s get the legal bit out of the way.
To keep from breaking the copyright laws and getting yourself in a bit of trouble, you can not just copy and paste recipes or type them in. They are not public domain. Both collections of recipes and recipe instructions may be copyrighted. I recommend that you search google for "recipe copyright" to read the full scoop. But suffice it to say, you can’t just use other people’s recipes legally. You have to use other methods.
So, what are the other ways to find recipes that you can use?
Your Recipes
Do you have recipes that you make for your family? It could be meatloaf with a special ingredient or salsa with a twist. Take a look at all of the meals that you have personally invented (or altered).
If so, type them into your blog. They are yours to do with as you wish. Anything that you pull directly from your own head — is free to use on your blog.
Aunts, Grandma & Friends
Do you have a collection of your mother’s or your grandmother’s recipes? How about your favorite aunt?
Look around the Thanksgiving dinner table and ask everyone to share their recipes. Then, start asking your friends, neighbors and co-workers.
Hire a Writer
The second method that I’d like to share is to hire a ghostwriter to write articles for you. Now, many people don’t think about using a ghostwriter in this way, but it can certainly save you much time — that you could spend in other ways.
PLR Recipes
And, last, but not least… my favorite way to get recipes for your mom blog is to get PLR (or private label rights) recipes. Why is this my favorite? Easy.
You aren’t stuck coming up with all of the recipes yourself.
You don’t have to pay someone else to write them for you.
You can change the recipes as much or as little as you’d like.
You can split them up and add them to multiple blogs. You can pretty much do whatever you’d like with them to create a product, freebie or something else.
You can get tons of recipes for cheap. Some PLR memberships sell them for less than $1 per recipe.
Of course, every PLR site has its own rules so be sure to read them before you buy.
A final tip: I recommend that you edit your PLR recipes so they are unique. Some ways to do this are:
Rewrite the directions.
Make the title sound more interesting.
Add a little something to it – i.e. suggestion of foods or drinks that would go well with the recipe.
Now that you know how easy it is to add recipes to your blog, you can get started right away. Your blog will go from bare to bountiful.
